Deia

The picturesque village of Deia sits in the heart of the Tramuntana mountain range offering spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea.  It’s one of the most charming villages on the island.

The scenic combination of sea and mountain adds to its appeal. It has become the residence of numerous artists who have succumbed to its charms, including the famous writer Robert Graves.

The best way to explore Deia is by walking its steep stone streets. You can also walk twenty minutes from the village along a beautiful path to visit the picturesque Cala Deia.

This small rocky cove beach with crystal clear waters is one of the most visited spots during the summer months. It is located at the mouth of the Torrent Major and is surrounded by cliffs.

There are two restaurants with gorgeous views to eat or have a drink next to the cove. However, they tend to be quite crowded in the summer and the prices are somewhat high.

Sa Calobra

This idyllic spot is hidden on the rugged northwest coast of Mallorca, Spain. It’s one of the few accesses to the sea in Sierra de Tramuntana. The access is as impressive and beautiful as the place itself. In fact, the difficulty of reaching this part of the island is another of the attractions when visiting Sa Calobra.

The winding Sa Calobra road was built in the 1930s. It’s one of the most spectacular and dangerous roads in Spain with a network of more than a dozen 180-degree curves. Most famous is Nudo de la Corbata, where the road makes a complete 360-degree turn and passes underneath itself.

The road finally ends at a marvelous beach hidden between enormous cliffs of more than 200 meters. Torrent de Pareis beach, located within a torrent estuary, is one of the most beautiful spots in Spain. Access to this beach is through a gorge that passes under tunnels with small windows to see the views.

Formentor Lighthouse

At the northern end of the island is the Formentor lighthouse. It is located in a place that is as impressive as it is steep. It’s also isolated from the rest of the island, which is why its construction presented so many difficulties.

Like Es Calobra, getting to this remote spot is not exactly easy. It is a narrow 20-kilometer road with numerous ups and downs. However, the views along the way are breathtaking and the final destination will leave anyone speechless. From the top of the viewpoint, you can see steep cliffs and a seemingly endless sea.

During the summer season, access is usually closed from 10 am to 7 pm to regulate excessive traffic. However, sunset is one of the best times to enjoy this place located on the edge of Mallorca.

Caló d’es Moro

This small cove is one of the most special places in Mallorca. It looks like a lagoon, as it is located in a small bay between steep rock formations, well protected from the waves.

A glimpse of turquoise waters beyond fine white sand catches the eye as you walk the path to the beach. It’s a perfect spot to get one of the best panoramic views of the place.

Swimming in its waters is a unique sensation. Also, it is worth exploring the two small caves located near the shore. This cove of sand and rocks is very busy during the summer due to its growing popularity. Therefore, spreading out your towel and sunbathing will be a difficult task.

Mallorca Es Coll Baix Beach

Es Coll Baix Beach

This beautiful beach is located on the Alcudia peninsula in the northeast of Mallorca. It’s protected by high stone cliffs and a pine forest. It is not unusual for goats to come down to the beach looking for food from tourists.

The location makes this beach one of the most remote, wild and natural spots on the island. It can be reached by sea or a 30-minute walk descending down a dirt track.

Its difficult access, compared with many other coves on the island, gives it a particular natural charm and makes the beach less frequented.

Coll Baix is a small paradise reserved for a privileged few who want to enjoy its turquoise waters in peace and quiet, sheltered by a mountainous landscape. A real treat for nature lovers in its purest state.

Llombards Cove

Cala Llombards is located in the southeast of Mallorca, ten kilometers from the town of Santanyí. Like most of the coves in this area, it is located at the mouth of a torrent, the Son Amer torrent in this case. The result is a magical bay of 150 meters deep, fringed with pine trees and bushes.

It can be accessed from the community of a few holiday homes with which it shares its name. Easy access makes it one of the most frequented beaches during the summer, both by tourists and locals.

Crystal clear turquoise waters and almost non-existent waves make it the perfect place for snorkeling. Along the cove, you can see small fishermen’s houses adding to the special charm of the place.

Es Pontas

Between Cala Llombards and Cala Santanyí, in the southeast of the island, is the natural wonder of Es Pontas. This stone arch is one of Mallorca’s great natural monuments. It is a large rock eroded over the years by the waves, giving rise to a kind of bridge over the sea some 25 meters high.

Located quite close to the coast, it can be admired from the cliffs, specifically from the Es Pontas viewpoint. The waters surrounding this natural monument are crystal clear, so renting a kayak and enjoying the view from the sea is even better.

Valldemossa

We leave behind the coves and beaches of Mallorca for a look at the mountain landscape on the other side of the island. It is a tranquil village located in a valley surrounded by the Sierra de Tramuntana mountains. However, in the summer months, many tourists come to discover the charms of this village.

Valldemossa has managed to preserve its historic charm with cobbled streets and houses adorned with flower pots. Some of the streets not to miss are Calle de la Rectoría, Calle de Buger and Calle del Rey Sancho.

Mallorca is the perfect destination for lovers of the sea, nature and breathtaking sunsets. The perfect combination of mountain scenery and paradisiacal beaches. The best way to discover the island is by car, enjoying its risky but incredibly beautiful roads.
