Travel Brings New Perspective

Sometimes you lose sight of things, and when you travel, everything balances out. -- Daranna GidelSometimes life just gets out of control. I have work deadlines, projects to finish and three children’s needs to attend to. At times, it feels like life’s daily stresses will never end.

The problem is that I’m so close to the daily demands of my life, that I have lost all perspective.

The big picture is usually so much better.

That’s why travel is so healing for me. It takes me outside of my day-to-day routine, and introduces me to something new. That fresh perspective helps me to step back and see the bigger picture. In truth, those stressful deadlines, the kids’ homework projects and my unending quest to fix up my house won’t really matter.

What matters are the people I love, those I meet in the road of life, and the difference I make on this earth. Seeing new faces, experiencing the wonder of nature, and exploring the beauty of God’s creation helps me to remember those  simple facts.

Some people like big homes and fancy cars. There’s nothing wrong with that. As for me, I’d rather have less material wealth and have more opportunity to travel. It heals my soul.

I’m sure I’m not alone in that. What do YOU think about travel?
