Author: Mark Orwoll

Mark Orwoll is happiest when he doesn't know exactly where he is or how to get back to camp. In his 40-plus-year journalism career, he has balanced on the edge of Victoria Falls, hunted for unexploded bombs in Cambodia, been charged by an elephant in Namibia (not recommended), and hammered the spigot into the first beer keg of Oktoberfest in Munich in 2004. Mark has traveled to more than 90 countries, mostly on assignment for such outlets as Condรฉ Nast Traveler, Fodor's, the Travel Channel, AARP, Town & Country, Departures, and Go World Travel. He's the former International Editor of Travel + Leisure, where he was on staff for 30 years. As an author, he has written e-Travel, John Wayne Speaks, and a thriller, Cross Purposes. Mark is on Instagram, Facebook, X, and Linkedin, where he is happy to interact with like-minded adventurous travelers.
