New Horizons
Nothing stands still in the online world, and new technologies continue to broaden our horizons. One of these emerging technologies is the ability to broadcast video online. You’ll soon be watching some of your favorite TV shows on the Internet … if you’re not already.
For Go World Travel, these are exciting times. You may not know it, but we have a full-service video-production division in house. And we’ll now be using that crew to bring you some of our stories in video, just as a TV news station would. We’ve also added a new travel magazine to our growing circle of magazines; goColorado.com brings the Centennial State to readers with video stories and insightful articles.
We’re growing, and working hard to bring the world to your fingertips. A new issue of Go World Travel will now be coming to you every six weeks — and look for our video features coming soon.
In contrast to the newness of technology, many of the places that are most fascinating to us as travelers draw our interest because they offer glimpses of life long ago. Two of our stories this month are about places with primeval origins. Edge of the Abyss: Hawaii’s Drive-In Volcano takes the reader up to the edge of steaming masses of molten lava, and Dragon Spotting: Indonesia’s Komodo Island offers a rare opportunity to view immense prehistoric reptiles up close.
In terms of human history, we offer the chance to learn about the remarkable 7th and 8th century fortresses built in a black basalt desert in Castles in the Desert: Jordan’s Ancient Citadels. And we learn about the devastating earthquake of 1693 that destroyed cities in Sicily, but which gave birth to magnificent Baroque churches and palaces in Step by Step: Modica, Sicily.
While it’s great to read about far-away places filled with history and adventure, many of us in North America are looking closer to home for vacation getaways. With this in mind, we offer an itinerary for a weekend getaway to a West Coast city with numerous cultural attractions and a reputation for leading-edge restaurants (Easy Streets: Weekend in Portland) and an enticing tropical getaway that’s a short boat ride from Puerto Vallarta (Secluded, Casual, Primitive: Mexico’s Las Majahuitas).
As always, there’s lots more to discover in this issue of Go World Travel Magazine. We’re pleased to have you with us on this voyage of discovery.
Happy Travels!
