Discovering Columbus
Although you might not expect it, Columbus, Ohio, is fast earning a reputation as a destination with some rather unusual museums. For example, there’s the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum, with models that date back to the early 1900s. The Barbershop Museum and Hall of Fame is definitely an American original, packed with barber poles, swiveling chairs and hundreds of century-old shaving mugs. The Chimpanzee Research Center at the Ohio State University welcomes the public to tour during a free open house the second Sunday of each month. There’s even the last remaining whistle factory in the U.S. that still makes those steel whistles. For more information, call 800-EXP-COLS (800-397-2657) or go to www.experiencecolumbus.com. |
