Orlando Adventures  Eight things

Orlando Adventures

Eight things you didn’t know you could do at Walt Disney World Resort

At Epcot, guests ages eight and up can have a personal encounter with the marine life in The Living Seas. Scuba gear and scuba-assisted snorkeling equipment are provided.

Learn to surf

Want to catch a six-foot wave without the worry of sharks? Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and the Cocoa Beach Surf School offer surfing lessons on selected mornings before the water park opens. For information call 407-WDW-PLAY.

Trail ride

Saddle up for a horseback riding adventure through tall pines and palmettos with the Trail Blaze Coral at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Tours leave several times daily. For information call 407-WDW-PLAY.

Active vacationers can saddle up for a trail ride at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. Riders mosey
along beneath tall pines, bay trees and palmettos on this
45-minute wrangler-led tour.

Scuba dive with sea turtles

Certified divers can slip into Epcot’s  Living Seas pavilion to investigate a salt-water world of coral, sea turtles and hundreds of other fish. This 6 million gallon aquarium is one of the largest in the world. The twice-daily DiveQuest program includes gear and expert-led tours. Guests without scuba certification can experience the Living Seas using scuba-assisted snorkeling gear. For information call 407-WDW-TOUR.

Skim across the water

Walt Disney World Resort claims to have the largest rental fleet of watercraft in the world, from canopy boats and pontoons to sailboats and mini-powerboats. There are miles of Disney waterways to explore in this 47-square mile park. For more information call 407-WDW-PLAY.

Snorkel with sharks

For those who would like to see sharks up close, the Shark Reef at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park is just the ticket. All the necessary gear is provided to float above leopard and nurse sharks, as well as rays and a sunken ship. For more information call 407-824-4321.

The sky is the limit when guests take a parasailing adventure high above Bay Lake. Single and tandem fliers can have a bird's-eye view of the Magic Kingdom at altitudes nearing 600 feet for 8 to 10 minutes.

Reel in a big one

Trophy-sized largemouth bass often lurk in the lakes and waterways at the Walt Disney World Resort, and two-hour guided fishing tours can show guests how to reel in that trophy catch. Boats are fully stocked with all the gear necessary for a fun day on the water. This catch and release program requires no license and special tours can be designed for young anglers ages 5-12. For information call 407-WDW-PLAY.

Explore by bike

There are more than 10 bicycle rental locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort, and guests can coast down the resort paths on a speedy trail bike or take it easy on a covered four-seater surrey bike.

Float across the sky

For an aerial view of Bay Lake and Magic Kingdom, guests can catch some air with a parasail. Using a unique “dry” take-off and landing, guests can head aloft from the back of a boat without getting wet. For information and flight times call 407-939-0754. -- GWT
