Light Up the Tree
The self-proclaimed tallest living — and that’s the operative word here — Christmas tree of the world is on display in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The tree reaches 161 feet (49 m) tall, and is decorated with more than 30,000 lights. The grand fir overlooks Lake Coeur d’Alene from the shoreline home of Duane Hagadone, owner of the Coeur d’Alene Golf & Spa Resort. (To put this living tree in perspective, the annual cut tree at Rockefeller Center in New York City averages 75 feet, or 22 meters.) Every Dog Has His Day
The folks behind Madame Tussauds New York wax museum are creative, to say the least. In addition to Lassie, the first-ever animal to be immortalized in wax, is the new Bullseye, the recognizable logo dog for Target department stores. The bull terrier that has Target Corporation’s bullseye logo painted around its left eye is on view in a prominent lobby display. In January, Bullseye will move to another spot in the museum. The museum, located on Times Square , is open 365 days a year, and features a number of life-size humans, as well. Recent additions include Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Senator Hillary Clinton. Pure Air
If traveling leaves you feeling breathless, the Pan Pacific Vancouver hotel now offers a bit of assistance: oxygen dispensers. The oxygen canisters, about the size of a small water bottle, provide approximately six gallons (22.7 l) of oxygen-enriched air. That’s enough for two to three minutes of continuous air flow or 12-15 uses of 20-second bursts of 90-percent oxygen. Studies have shown pure oxygen can be an antidote to a mid-afternoon slump or jet lag. Personal dispensers are available to Pan Pacific guests for US$ 15.95. Refillable canisters are also for sale. For more information about these portable oxygen boosters, go to www.oxia.com. For reservations at the Pan Pacific, check out www.vancouver.panpacific.com.
