Thank you for your interest in Go World Travel Magazine. Our mission is to provide top-quality writing that will not only entertain, but inspire our readers to explore this great big world for themselves.

Go World Travel provides ongoing content that goes beyond the usual articles carried in newspaper travel sections. We want to know more than how to get to a place or what to do there.

Tell us about the people who call this destination home, the treasured regional customs, or the places where locals hang out. We want to smell the aromas, taste the food, explore the streets and walk down hidden paths. Go World Travel aims to help our readers experience a destination.

Go World Travel magazine is written from an international perspective. More than half of our readers are Americans with incomes of $50k+, but readers also include English-speaking travel lovers from all over the world.

Features:

Go World Travel carries at least six features from worldwide destinations in each issue. They fall under categories such as: World Spotlight – a main destination piece that focuses on one particular place in the world; The Insider – a destination piece written from a local or native point of view (can also be written ‘as told to’); Fascinating People – an article profiling a person of interest in any part of the world; Niche Travel – anything from adventure travel to ecotourism; Off-the-Beaten Path – a special find that most travelers would never see; and It Really Happened – a first-person essay on a crazy, heart-warming or simply entertaining tale of life on the road. Features tend to use an edgier, and sometimes (although not always) more personal form of writing. (Keep in mind that the story should still focus on the destination itself, even if written in first person.) We’re looking for honest, down-to-earth descriptive writing. We're not interested in a laundry list of things you saw and did; rather, we look for vivid descriptions, lively anecdotes and straight-forward, non-flowery language that shows a sense of curiosity and interest in the destination.

A sidebar listing helpful links and directing readers where to find further information should be included with most stories. Feature word length is 900-1200. Pay is between US$ 25 and $40 upon publication for nonexclusive online rights to text and accompanying digital photos. Reprints will be considered. Please list where and when the article appeared.

The magazine is very visual, and photos are important. Please scan photos at 200 dpi and send on disk or via email. Print photos may also be sent in for scanning, if needed. If you do not have your own photos, however, if you don't, please suggest a tourism office that might be able to provide photos.

After online publication, all articles will be archived so that readers may reference this information when preparing for a trip of their own. Authors are listed in “Our Contributors” section. Once your story has been selected for publication, please send a brief bio – and please be sure it's up to date – and a photo of yourself.

Departments:

Short Trips – a short piece on a side trip that could be taken in any given destination (ie. museum visit, hike, boat excursion, etc.); Where to Hang Your Hat — a 500-800 word review of a resort or hotel of note; Reflections — thoughtful commentary on why people travel, 500-800 words. Department pieces pay between US$ 15 and $25 upon publication.

Submitting articles or ideas:  As details of destinations change regularly, we accept only stories from trips that were taken within the last two years. Before you send in your story, please take the time to fact check it so that it's accurate and up to date. Please submit articles to: submissions@goworldpublishing.com. Due to the volume of submissions, we cannot reply to every submission. If your idea fits our style and editorial calendar, an assigning editor will contact you.

A few things to keep in mind:

Accuracy: Please ensure that all names (including any foreign-language words used) are correctly spelled. If you are aware of any symbols over letters, please include these in your submission. Phone numbers, addresses and websites should be double checked for accuracy, as our readers depend on this information when they travel.

Conversions: Since we write for an international audience, please include metric conversions (or vice versa) in parenthesis, after any measurement; i.e., 50 miles (80 km). (A good website for conversion help is: www.convert-me.com/en/convert/length)

Submitting photos: Please do not submit photos until requested. When requested, send 4 to 8 digital photos to photos@goworldpublishing.com. We prefer digital submissions, if possible, scanned at 200 dpi. If you wish to send photos formatted for web use, photos should not be smaller than 15-20k in size. Our email servers can accept larger-sized digital photos. We can scan from slides or prints, if needed.

Please send captions and photo credits for each photo to photos@goworldpublishing.com. If your image includes people who are mentioned by name in your story, please provide their names so this information can be included in the captions.
